Ready, Steady, Cook!

Ready, Steady, Cook!

So I was given the task of “what to eat?” this is a beast that lives in the Magda Cooks household. The movement is on to avoid excess or ANY carbs, and to try to make something to go onto the blog. So I went

Magdas’ Mushroom Soup

Magdas’ Mushroom Soup

I think I don’t have to explain the beneficial influence of various soups – though mushroom soup has additional values because of the unique values of mushrooms themselves. Mushrooms are a very good source of B vitamins such as niacin and riboflavin and minerals like

Late Evening Energetic Salad

Late Evening Energetic Salad

Sometimes Cookies comes back home very late, he claims that from work 0_o, but who knows where he hauls his ass in the big city! 0_o

Nonetheless when he does, he usually comes home very hungry, and it is usually around 10pm and the last thing you should eat at that moment is something heavy and carbed to no end. That is why I usually plan salads for those evenings. This salad has to meet a few rules – no worries 😉 it’s not stiff health/doctor rules. Just common sense rules, as I’m a fan of using common sense.

So the rules I suggest and follow are:

a) a lot – use humongous amount of greens as a base – mostly lettuce or cabbage (did you know that cabbage needs more energy to digest then it supplies? This is why it’s perfect dieting vegetable)

b) protein – usually chicken or turkey but bacon is not bad if you find not greasy one and doesn’t use a pound for 1 portion 0_o, on second thought go ahead and knock yourself out if you please 0_o

c) light dressing – meaning vinaigrette type is much better then the mayo based one.

d) no carbs – or at least very limited amount. I usually make it strictly no carbs.

Stuffing Meat Is FUN!

Stuffing Meat Is FUN!

If you didn’t know, pork tenderloin contains as much fat as chicken breast – so it’s nice change for us dieting people 0_o. It doesn’t need too much work or cooking time. The meat is very tender and tastes great without too much effort. I

The Healthiest Dinner On Earth

I don’t know if it’s working LOL cos I don’t have a scale but I continue to cut carbs from my diet – Cookies too. Actually he wants so much to eat something other than an apple, some yogurt and yes… peas with ketchup 0_o,

Did I mention that I’m constantly trying to lose weight? Yeah I do. My last great idea is to cut as much carbs as possible from my diet. Cookies said: AT LAST WOMAN!! and I said – don’t be so cheerful you are going there with me Buddy! You would have to see his face… well like popular ad says… priceless 0_o.

One of my biggest problems with cutting carbs is lunch at work. The easiest (for Cookies) to prepare was always sandwiches. I hate crunchy bread and I don’t like the heavy sour taste of whole grain flour bread, so mostly I was looking for rye or wholemeal but still it’s not diet enough. So now I try to find recipes to eliminate carbs at all or just most of it.

The salad below is really filling and and so damn tasty. It’s easy to manipulate the size of the portion, with the dressing make sure you either cut it in half or double ;-). Of course it can be served with different kind of dressing like simple vinaigrette or dill dressing – you choose!

I have tremendous problems lately with motivation. It’s very hard to make myself to do anything… so I’m looking for meals that really don’t take too much time or more –God forbid– effort 0_o. Yes I know, it’s bad but… things like that just happens,

Green Pasta With Shrimps

Green Pasta With Shrimps

69 Shrimp Pasta

Cookies always says I'm a specialist in cooking shrimps 😉 but I just watch attentively cooking shows and listen to the ppl who really know what they are doing in the kitchen 0_o. One of my basic rules with shrimps comes from Jamie Oliver who said that shrimps love chili, so my every meal with shrimps definitely contains fresh or powdered chili or jalapeno.

This time I added ½ tsp of powdered chili and Cookies was moaning that his mouth was burning – therefore I lowered the amount, but feel free to use as much as you feel comfortable with 😀 Despite the bite of chilli pepper the meal was kind of mellow.
