Chix and Chorizo Gulash

Chix and Chorizo Gulash

I think EASY should be my second name… as much as I love cooking, I need things to be easy, because of my short attention span, I get distracted and/or annoyed fast if I don’t get visible results in a short amount of time. That

Aromatic sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms pasta

Aromatic sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms pasta

I was just indelicately reminded that my lazy ass didn’t post for 2 months. Yes I know… so many things to do, so little motivation to do them… Nonetheless, there is new idea. Extremely tasty, meatless – especially if you use vegetable broth. You can’t

Delirium Dinner

Delirium Dinner

82 delirium dinner

So, I’m on my second week of “vacation” meaning I’m not “working”, but leave it to Cookies, he will find 43 billion things to do just at this right moment. Pity, I caught a cold in the end of my first week of “vacation” and have been literally dying since 0_o And imagine that, he (Cookies) is still demanding food 0_o. Today he made sure I will commit to cooking and since noon was annoying me with one question: What are we eating today, Babes? First 30 times I just said I don’t know yet, but every next one I was trying to get the worst food that was coming to my head and definitely one he hates the most. Though still didn’t know what to make. Then while I was laying under a pretty yellow-orange-beige-brown blanket trying to enjoy my book, I just saw this dinner on the plate. It’s all in the colors. Yellow for rice, orange for carrots and a brownish tint for grilled pieces of chicken. Of course it gave me the opportunity to use my AAAAACHEEEW, excuse me 0_o my newly exploding garden on the windowsill 😉 I just freaking love to hover over it with my fuchsia scissors and thinking which one to cut this time… Then through my stuffy nose ripped the delicious smell of fresh rosemary – I prepared my own Chix marinate using the small fragrant leaves.

My own marinade recipe

My own marinade recipe

I have tremendous problems lately with motivation. It’s very hard to make myself to do anything… so I’m looking for meals that really don’t take too much time or more –God forbid– effort 0_o. Yes I know, it’s bad but… things like that just happens,

Green Pasta With Shrimps

Green Pasta With Shrimps

69 Shrimp Pasta

Cookies always says I'm a specialist in cooking shrimps 😉 but I just watch attentively cooking shows and listen to the ppl who really know what they are doing in the kitchen 0_o. One of my basic rules with shrimps comes from Jamie Oliver who said that shrimps love chili, so my every meal with shrimps definitely contains fresh or powdered chili or jalapeno.

This time I added ½ tsp of powdered chili and Cookies was moaning that his mouth was burning – therefore I lowered the amount, but feel free to use as much as you feel comfortable with 😀 Despite the bite of chilli pepper the meal was kind of mellow.

Getting Harder…

Getting Harder…

Getting harder… As I mentioned lately it’s really hard to get new recipes for chix breasts that can be done without oven. But I’m tough and I did it… again 0_o. I found this idea on some kind of site that offered base asian recipes.

Nooooo Chicken Again…

A Perfect 10 ;-)

A Perfect 10 ;-)

A Perfect 10 😉

This meal I made once for Cookies when he was exceptionally homesick. I looked on allrecipes.com for something that is very american and is not hamburgers 😉 sorry for that 0_o Cookies is master in making hamburgers, yummy! So, I was looking and then in the second place I found this funny name for a meal SLOPPY JOES. Thought it’s hilarious then I read the recipe and… found it awesomely easy to make. I prepared it one day when Cookies was out and as a good wifey I was waiting for him with the dinner. Seeing his face after I put it in front of him… was priceless 😉 I believe he had tears in his eyes and screamed flapping his arms in the air OMG SLOPPY JOES!!! YOU MADE ME SLOPPY JOES!!! OMG SLOPPY JOES!!! AAAAAAA!!! Really I didn’t really know it was such a big deal, but I was pleased with his reaction very much!!

I make it now and then with my little tweak (wouldn’t be myself 0_o), original recipe didn’t call for chilli pepper – I thought it will be a nice addition to this sweet/sour flavour. Of course I know my American Friends have their own recipes for sloppies, how we call them in the Mullen Household. If you do something different, feel free to share your way!

Ah, and nooo… it’s not diet… it’s very far away from diet 😉 but… I think we can sin from time to time.

Ingredients for 5 Sloppy Joes
40 dag ( 1lb ) lean beef
1 medium red onion
1 medium pepper (I had white one, but any will do)
1 medium chilli pepper
125ml good ketchup (I had Hellmans Napoli, but I think Krzepki Radek would be awesome!)
3 tbsp yellow mustard
2 tsp brown sugar – very important!
3 tbsp oil
pinch of garlic powder
salt and black pepper
10 dag shredded soft cheese
5 buns of your choice – I couldn’t buy graham buns today, so it’s even less diet then it could be 😉

Preparations:
Dice onion, pepper and chilli into small cubes. Heat oil, toss onion, after 30s of stirring add pepper and chilli, fry another minute stirring. Add beef and brown all together. When meat is not pinkish anymore mix in ketchup, mustard, sugar and garlic powder. Check if there is need for salt and pepper. Lower the heat, cover and keep stewing for another 10-15 min. Stir from time to time, to make sure it won’t burn. Cut buns in half, but not to the end, open it wide and push the soft part trying to make little hole. Add 3 tbsp of hot mixture on the bun – no need to be particular, it’s sloppy 😉 add some shredded cheese and cover with the other part of the bun. Serve immediately! I chose to eat it with sour pickle, which Cookies wouldn’t touch but I think it fits perfectly.

Until next time, take care of yourself and each other 0_o

P.S. I forgot to say Cookies rated it a perfect 10 😉 hehehe bastard!
