Back in business

For the past few weeks I was asked numerous times, if I planned to write something for MC anytime soon, and I always answered yes, but I ending up needing some more time. Some sad, and hard things happened in the past few weeks

Kluski Slaskie With Mushroom Sauce by Wojtek

Couple days ago my favourite neighbour Wojtek sent me by email one of his latest creations. Wojtek likes to cook and actually does it really good. His greek fish is spectacular and his zurek even better 😉 I know cause Marta (his wife) and himself

102 pulpetki in dill sauce

Well, we are two different people, who got raised in two different traditions (and cultures) and we like different things. In the beginning I had to make a double effort to feed Cookies the way he got used to (thankfully his Mom liked a lot of polish dishes like bigos (hunter’s stew), pierogi, haluszki, which actually he makes much better than I do etc). For example, when I wanted my favourite sour pickle soup, I was cooking bouillon and dividing into 2 pots and in one making pickle soup for myself and in the other tomato soup for Cookies. Thankfully as the time passed he started eating more and more, of course it works both ways, though I will NEVER EVER NEVER EVER eat cooked peas and corn with ketchup!!!

Thanks to Cookies I started liking mexican food, even lately learned how to eat fajitas without tossing stuffing everywhere 0_o. (Cookies comment: And you have no clue how close to a miracle that, in itself REALLY is!)

So, with this long beginning just wanted to say, that sometimes I feel for something old school, which my Mom cooked when I was a kid. The other day it was little meatballs in dill sauce gravy.

Antidepresant Muffins

Antidepresant Muffins

Well, I know I have been neglecting Magda Cooks terribly lately. I didn’t feel like moving my pinky. You can say keep calm and stop moaning, but there is time when too many problems overwhelm you and you just lose it. Thankfully I’m optimist by

Light Dinner For A Hot Summer

Light Dinner For A Hot Summer

I don’t know if I ever mentioned this, but I despise heat. As much as I don’t like wearing heavy jackets and scarves with caps I hate summer more. The high temperature makes my brain cook and stop working (Cookies no doubt would say, that’s

Easy As Pie, The Apple Pie!!

Easy As Pie, The Apple Pie!!

apple pie

For the last couple weeks I was tormented by visions of apple cake, pie or whatever but absolutely with apples. I know a good recipe for an apple cake but the baking tin dedicated for it won't fit to my beloved halogen oven. I had to look for a pie recipe cos the pie dish fits perfectly… Now when I think about it… I could make xmas apple pie… though wanted something moist and filled. I asked Uncle Google and after some changes and alterations as usual, I come up with the recipe for apple pie that I can call 85% diet. As it contains only brown sugar, no butter, margarine or oil, only greasing the tin. It doesn’t produce a humongous amount, then to make it last – you gotta eat less!! 0_o. One thing for sure, I have to find somewhere REAL vanilla extract…

French dough for dinner Since my Almost Diet Pouches were such a success I thought I could experiment some more with additional fillings and maybe EVEN use it for dinner. I was debating what to use and my choice fell on white mushrooms. It’s hard

Almost diet pouches

Almost diet pouches

I know, I’m boring everybody with my peans about my beloved halogen oven… but truth is, its awesome equipment. I learned to use it quite  well – ask Cookies about Xmas turkey (post coming soon!) ;-). Since the halogen oven is not too big, plus

Pork Pork Pork

Pork Pork Pork

A long time ago, before I was even thinking to start blogging Cookies was making me to coat every possible meat or not (see: soy cutlets) in oatmeal bran. Believe me, after some time it’s getting old. Though not to Mr Cookies 0_o. I think I could coat anything in the oatmeal bran and he would munch on it happily… if you know what I mean 0_o. So, I couldn’t stand oatmeal bran coating after the years and I was desperately looking for a solution. Then some small article about the 10 easiest dinners or cheapest or whatever popped up on the front page of onet.pl. There was plenty of junk (as usual) but this one recipe caught my attention. I was quite sure that Cookies would kiss my candy ass for preparing it for him. And IT WASN’T “TAKE THE CHIX OUT, BABES!” So at the first possibility I ran to the store and bought pork loin and cheddar cheese – no, not the yard store Cookies! (I believe soon I won’t be allowed into the yard store, like I’m not allowed into Delikatesy w Marsie 0_o). So there it goes CHEDDAR COATED PORK CUTLETS (yes, I know it’s chops, but the word cutlets annoys Cookies, so it stays that way :P).

Crab Sticks Dinner

Crab Sticks Dinner

Crab Sticks Dinner When I was younger I never liked seafood, also wasn’t big fan of fish. But now, when I’m OLD (according to Cookies) I like many things more. I believe it’s the natural way of the taste buds evolving, though I still hate
